Timmy Öberg is a doctoral student in computer and information science with a specialization in Informatics at Linnaeus University and a member of the Graduate School of Advanced Technology and Enterprising (GATE). His doctoral position is fully funded through the GATE research school.
Prior to his doctoral studies, he worked as a teaching assistant at the Department of Informatics, primarily within the Interaction Design programme, where he was involved in teaching, supervision, and course development.
Research
Timmy’s research focuses on Digital Product Passports (DPPs) and their role in organizational value creation. Rather than viewing DPPs solely as a technical or regulatory requirement, he examines how digital product information can be strategically applied in practice, particularly within small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The project explores how data related to product origin, material composition, and lifecycle can become a resource for business development and more circular ways of working. In line with GATE’s emphasis on advanced technology and collaboration with industry, the research investigates how digital solutions can translate into tangible business value.
Teaching
Timmy has teaching experience within the Bachelor’s programme in Interaction Design at Linnaeus University. His work has included lecturing, tutoring, grading, workshop facilitation, and the development of course materials and digital learning resources.
His teaching has mainly covered interaction design, user-centered design, research methodology, and project work, with a particular focus on prototyping and hands-on work in design tools such as Figma, as well as web-related technologies.
