I teach physics and astronomy within the teacher education program, the physics program, and the foundation year program. In addition to a PhD in astroparticle physics, I hold a teaching degree in physics and mathematics for upper secondary school.
Today, my research focuses on physics education. My current project investigates students’ conceptions and reasoning about what an eye sees when light is refracted at a plane surface.
In my research in astroparticle physics, I worked with IceCube (then AMANDA), a neutrino telescope at the South Pole, where glacial ice forms a central part of the telescope. I used the neutrino telescope to search for magnetic monopoles and other hypothetical particles whose existence has not been experimentally confirmed.
