Multilingual Literacies in English and Swedish as a Second Language in the Nordic Countries

Welcome to the conference Multilingual Literacies in English and Swedish as a Second Language in the Nordic Countries, held at Linnaeus University in Växjö on 20–21 May 2027.

This year’s theme encompasses the diversity of research areas within the field of multilingual literacies in a Nordic context. We particularly welcome contributions that address literacies in working life, but the conference is open to presentations of all current theoretical, methodological, and/or pedagogical research on literacies in English or Swedish as a second language in the Nordic countries. Presentations may be delivered in Swedish or English. The conference is organised by the Department of Swedish, in collaboration with the Department of Languages at Linnaeus University

We especially welcome teachers or teacher educators who work with adult learners developing their literacies in Swedish and English. Do you teach multilingual classrooms, or support learners in strengthening their language and literacy skills in everyday or working-life contexts? We invite you to share your experiences, classroom practices, and insights. Join us at the conference to present your work, exchange ideas, and engage in meaningful discussions with fellow teachers and researchers at Linnaeus University.

Further information on registration, abstract submission, and the conference programme will be published on this website during the autumn of 2026.
