Open Lecture: Energy System Resilience in the Age of Decarbonization
In an era marked by global decarbonization, the issue of energy systems' resilience and their ability to maintain security, reliability, and cost-effectiveness is becoming increasingly relevant.
The global energy transition is driving major investments in renewable technologies, energy storage, and grid modernization. However, technical and economic challenges remain in creating a sustainable, secure, and affordable energy system. This presentation explores the balance between energy security, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. Fossil fuels combined with low-carbon technologies may continue to play a regional role. A mix of renewables, dispatchable fossil energy, CCUS, and emerging fuels is needed to align climate goals with grid stability.
