Strategic leadership for technology-enabled business transformation

The course is aimed at managers, leaders, and decision-makers from the industry who are facing or undergoing technology-driven changes. Content
In the course, we will address a range of topics such as:
Strategic decision-making in organizations
Strategic organization: purpose, values, and culture
External environment: macro, industry, and competitive environments
Internal environment: resources, capabilities, and activities
Strategies for achieving competitive advantages, innovation, disruption, and digitalization
Leading strategic change
You will also complete a Mini-Capstone project, which is a written report on strategic leadership for technology-driven transformation at your current or previous workplace.
The goal of the course is for you to be able to:
Understand the principles of strategic decision-making and strategy development in organizations.
Understand the link between strategy and competitive advantage.
Understand the significance of innovation and digitalization for strategy and competitive advantage.
Understand how strategic decisions can be activated through strategic leadership and strategic change initiatives.
Apply and synthesize the course knowledge in a real-world context by completing an independent project.
Practical information
The teaching is given online and consists of lectures, case studies, active discussions among course participants, and supervision in connection with the mini-Capstone project. Some elements are mandatory. The scope of the mandatory parts will be provided in the schedule.
The course will be taught in Swedish (English can occur).
The course is credit-bearing and awards 3 ECTS credits. The course is graded as Fail or Pass.

Entry requirements
Basic eligibility at the advanced level in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or equivalent. If you have relevant work experience you are also welcome to apply. Two years of relevant work experience are considered equivalent to one year of university studies at the bachelor's level. We can validate your competencies if needed.
