Taking a course in the Fundamentals of 3D CAD provides you with valuable skills in digital modeling, which is an essential competency in engineering and design industries. Additionally, you will learn to create and modify three-dimensional objects, which can streamline product development and prototyping.
Target group
This course is for you as an engineer or designer who want to deepen your modeling skills, especially in SolidWorks.
Content
The course consists of several parts where you will have the opportunity to learn about different CAD principles and test various tools. You will learn how to create 3D models, assembly models, and generate drawings from models and assemblies. Additionally, you will gain knowledge in conducting motion studies and simulations in SolidWorks.
The goal of the course is to learn how to:
Create 3D models.
Create assembly models (assemblies).
Generate drawings from models and assemblies.
Utilize engineering analysis in SolidWorks – motion studies and simulations.
Practical information
The course consists of lectures and exercises, which will be offered either online or on-site. It will be delivered in a flexible manner to facilitate the combination of coursework with your ongoing professional commitments. Please refer to the schedule for more details.
The course is conducted in English.
The course is credit-bearing and awards 3 ECTS credits. It is graded on a Pass/Fail (G/U) scale. A number of exercises, including an individual assignment, must be completed to pass the course.
Entry requirements
90 credits, of which a degree project of 15 credits or equivalent. If you have relevant work experience you are also welcome to apply. Two years of relevant work experience is considered equivalent to one year of university studies at bachelor's level. We can validate your competence if necessary.
Schedule Autumn 2026
